Product Decision Layer
Purpose
Section titled “Purpose”Product Decision Layer is the CORTEX surface for product, component and installed-base decision pressure. It supports lifecycle, quote and architecture surfaces for industrial environments.
External pressure
Section titled “External pressure”Component obsolescence, regulatory exposure, substitution pressure, vulnerability findings and lifecycle uncertainty can affect customer commitments before teams see the full impact.
It may consume approved component data, product structure, lifecycle references, regulatory references, quote context and source references.
Output
Section titled “Output”It may expose lifecycle pressure briefs, quote context, substitute options, architecture decision context and cockpit-ready outputs.
Evidence boundary
Section titled “Evidence boundary”Product Decision Layer must preserve source-backed decision evidence for external lifecycle, regulatory and component claims. It separates documented source evidence from customer-specific action.
What it does not do
Section titled “What it does not do”It does not replace PLM, ERP, CPQ or engineering judgment. It does not directly change product records or issue purchasing decisions. It is a Decision Layer that works with existing product and commercial environments.
